This study examines Weitzman's hypothesis that the passage of no-fault laws has worsened the post-divorce financial situation of women. Using data from the Young Women's cohort (1968-1983), the analysis found no support for that hypothesis. No relationship was found between net family assets or salary and wage income of respondent (and husband, if present) and location of divorce or year of divorce (a proxy for location).
