Chapter 5 - Manager Main Menu

Super Button

Using the Manager Supervisory Functions

In order to access the Super button on the Main Menu window the user must have administrative privileges. If the user does not, the Super button will not appear on the screen. With this access the project supervisor can manage instrument structure and database tables during the design and authoring processes.

When the Super button is pushed, the Manager accesses the supervisory functions and they appear in the tabs of Supervisory Functions window. These functions are:
  • Diagnostics
  • Tables
  • Cleanup
  • Sections
  • Labels
  • Miscellaneous
  • Only the first two of these functions are operational.

    Diagnostics Tab

This function allows the supervisor to create and alter diagnostics. A knowledge of SQL is necessary. Caution must be used.

    Tables Tab

Currently the supervisor may view the Table structure and field characteristics for tables accessible in the drop down menu. The fields and their characteristics may not be edited.

If a field is a key, that information will appear in the bottom half of the screen and identify the keys' characteristics.

Press the Print Table Structure button to print this table.

When the Print Table Structure button is pressed the standard Report Generator dialogue box will be displayed. Choose the HTML tab. The destination path and file name may be changed in the Output File field of the dialogue box. The dialogue box will default to the directory specified in Setup tab, Preferences button, Output Dir with default file name TableStruct.HTML.

This window is also available under the Admin button on the Main Menu, Tables tab.

Occasionally some field descriptors, e.g., Formats table, Date field, may need to be changed from the American convention (Date (mdy)) to another convention such as Date (dmy) or Date (ymd). This may be done from the View Tables window under the 'Magnifying Glass' button on the Main Menu. This modification changes only the text that appears to the interviewer but does not alter the table structure.
