DataXfer Function

Using the Manager DataXfer Functions

 Clicking on the Data Transfer tab on the Main Menu will bring up the data transfer options that allow the user to import, export, and backup records, files, and fields. The Export subfunction called Field Files and Patches must be used to transfer the records created in the Manager to the Survey program. Every time records are edited in the Manager program the Export/Field Files and Patches must be used to update those same records in the Survey.

Create Backup Subfunction

When the Create Backup function is selected the Manager opens the Create Local Backup of Database window. This window allows the user to select specific tables or the entire database for backup. A table is selected when its name is highlighted in blue. In the figure below the Questionnaire Database table is selected. The default name of the backup file is BACKUP.MDB and it may be placed in any directory by using the Browse button. To rename the backup file edit its name in the Backup File box.

To select all tables in the database, left-click on the Select Entire Database button.

Specific tables are selected by clicking on the table name.

To select multiple, non-contiguous tables hold down the <Ctrl> key and left-click on the tables' names.

To select contiguous block of tables left-click on a table's name at the beginning of the block. Then hold down the <Shift> key and left-click on the table's name at the end of the block. When the tables to be backed up have been selected, press the Backup Selected Tables button.
