Chapter 3 - Configuration

Re-creating the Working Database File

If you cannot connect to the selected Instrument and Module, the database file did not get created correctly. There are a variety of reasons for this, like the local/network setup was ‘local’ but not specified as such, the path was incorrect, the working database, Chrrcapi.mdb, has become corrupt, TblDefTabl does not exist, etc. For whatever reason, follow the steps below to re-run the Manager configuration, and re-create the working database file, CHRRCAPI.MDB:

Bring up RegEdit in Win 95 (in WinNT: RegEdit32).

Open the top level key (Window) marked HKEY_CURRENT_USER

Next, delete the CHRRCAPI.MDB file that was created from the directory where it is located.

Finally, open the DBase.MDB file in Visual Basic to verify that the table 'TblDefTable' is displayed in the Tables tab.

Close the Dbase.MDB window and the MS Access window.

Next Step

Re-run the Manager configuration utility, WinMgrCfg.exe, and go through the configuration steps again.

If the configuration is successful this time and the file attributes were set correctly the first time, you should be ready to log on to the Manager and eventually open the Manager Startup Menu.
